Best Beginnings charity cycle ride from London to Paris
As Team GB return home from Beijing with their biggest medal haul in 100 years, London's very own Team BB gears up for its own cycling bonanza!
Best Beginnings CEO Alison Baum, affectionately dubbed “The Cycling CEO” by colleagues, has taken on the olympian challenge of cycling from London to Paris this September (14th - 17th) to raise in excess of £10,000 for the charity. Alison will be cycling 285 miles over 4 days alongside team mates Claire Davis, Annette Kurer, Francesca Entwistle, James Sainsbury and Jack Hawker and is looking for both individual and corporate sponsors.
Alison says: “This will be my 3rd charity bike ride, but my first as CEO of the charity and certainly my most challenging from a physical perspective. Whilst I am working on my physical health to complete the cycle ride, I am asking you to help me consider the financial health of the charity BB.”
Best Beginnings (BB) was set up as a charity in 2006 as a catalyst for change, using innovative approaches to break down inequalities in child health in the UK. Its vision is of a future where all children enjoy best practice healthcare from conception through to early years, and where families have the information and support needed to protect their children’s health and avoid preventable illnesses and deaths.
Best Beginnings relies on charitable funding to operate its many important projects in the field of child health. To sponsor Alison and Team BB on their cycle tour to Paris simply visit

Win a bike!
Have you seen The Cycling CEO or a member of Team BB out on their bikes? Perhaps you saw one of the Cycling CEO postcards? If so, you could be in with the chance of winning a brand new bike!
To enter BB's fantastic competition, simply visit their website -
www.bestbeginnings.info
- and enter your name, email, address and where you saw the cyclist.
“We hope you'll also dig in and sponsor one of the team too, because we urgently need to raise money to continue our projects creating valuable resources for parents and parents to be, to ensure all children born in the UK have a chance at a healthy start.”
The prize draw will take place on 31st October 2008.
