I am delighted to announce that localities in the North of England can apply to be part of our North of England Breastfeeding Impact Study.

Thanks to funding from the Department of Health, Best Beginnings has recruited a North of England Facilitator to deliver Best Beginnings structured embedding programme to actively embed three of our innovative evidence-based resources into three selected sites in the North of England.

As an integral part of the North of England Breastfeeding Impact Study, Best Beginnings has commissioned researchers from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to undertake qualitative and quantitative evaluation work in the three chosen areas to assess the impact of the embedding programme on service delivery and on local breastfeeding rates.

This two year impact project is 80% funded and includes:

  • Facilitation of Senior Management Team meetings / Appreciative Inquiries and Communication Workshops to effectively embed the following four Best Beginnings’ resources in each of the three chosen localities:
    • ‘From Bump to Breastfeeding’ DVD (updated in 2014 thanks to DH funding and now in Arabic as well as Polish, Bengali, Somali, Urdu and British Sign Language)
    • Baby Buddy app
    • Baby Express magazine
    • Small Wonders DVD
  • Full project support from our North of England Facilitation Team for the duration of the two year study.
  • Full academic evaluation (UCLan) and reporting on the impact of the intervention in the chosen localities.

Only three localities can be chosen and the closing date for applications is 12th February 2015.

Don’t miss the opportunity to make an impact in your area in 2015 and beyond!
