Incey wincey spider

Natalia, 11 months, and her mum Alicia singing Incey wincey spider.

Watch Dr Kirk's commentary to hear what makes this a good example of baby communication, or read on to find out more.

Even though eleven month old Natalia can't yet sing along with this nursery rhyme she is certainly joining in by lifting up her arms and waving them around. Natalia has probably heard this nursery rhyme many times as she seems to recognise the words and is joining in with the actions.

Natalia has noticed the cameraman and is using her powers of communication to invite him into the nursery rhyme. She is looking at him, smiling and lifting up her hands to him to show him the actions. Singing nursery rhymes is a lovely activity that you and your baby can enjoy together or can be shared with the whole family.
