Preparing for parenthood

There are around 600,000 births every year in the UK and about half of them are born to first-time parents.

Support and information for expectant parents focuses mainly on pregnancy, birth and the physical health of mother and baby, and often fails to involve fathers.

We are working with the Fatherhood Institute, Family Info, and the University of the West of England to create a DVD and supporting materials that will help parents-to-be across the UK.

In research new parents expressed a need for a DVD to support them as they become parents, and the early stages of parenthood.

No such resource currently exists.

Our DVD aims to improve the preparation for parenthood and improve health choices that will reduce infant mortality and improve child health and parental wellbeing.
