A New Year message from our CEO and Founder, Alison Baum OBE

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy best beginning to 2022! Our CEO and founder of Best Beginnings Alison Baum OBE has a message she'd like to share with you all to welcome in the New Year:

A warm welcome to 2022!The New Year is always about beginnings, possibilities and potential. Within the context of the last few challenging years, this New Year is also very much about hope.

It also provides a precious opportunity to pause and reflect. So, before I share with you some of our exciting plans for 2022, I’d like to take a moment to extend my huge and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported Best Beginnings in our first fifteen years. By embracing the power of collaboration, evidence and innovation, together we have supported more than 3 million parents and caregivers across the UK and beyond!

2022 is set to be another highly productive year for the charity with our plans including:

Ensuring tens of thousands new and expectants mothers, fathers, co-parents and caregivers know about our free empowering and effective Baby Buddy app and have free 24/7 access to essential mental health support through the free emotional support service powered by Shout in our Baby Buddy app.

Growing our Parent Panel and ensuring that the Panel continues to be instrumental in shape the charity’s work and plans. Putting the voices and needs of parents at the centre of all we develop and deliver.

Launching our Father's Advisory Group which will bring together expert fathers’ charities, organisations and campaigners, ensuring that we reach and engage as many fathers as possible in a meaningful and impactful way.

Creating powerful new films for inclusion in the new version of our Baby Buddy app, including many for fathers, to provide increased support throughout pregnancy and parenthood.

Continuing to shine a spotlight on the impact of the pandemic on babies and the services that work with them, and to campaign for investment in the Early Years to help families recover.

Developing and delivering the ‘Safer Beginnings’ Programme in collaboration with 16 other delivery partners, working together to improve maternity outcomes and the postnatal safety of over 70,000 women across England, Wales and Scotland with a focus on reducing obstetric violence, domestic violence and FGM.
