Best Beginnings has been awarded up to £170,000 from the Department of Health's Innovation, Excellence and Service Development Fund. This money will be used to support the 'Practioners and Parents Champions Project'.

This innovative project employs a full-time time nurse for two years in a neonatal unit in an area of disadvantage to use Small Wonders effectively.  The Nurse's role will be both to train and educate staff as a 'Practitioner Champion' and to recruit parents from the local community to act as 'Parent Champions'.

The article below was in the Ham & High newspaper on May 5th 2011 and discusses the successful grant.
