Lee Hall & Alison Baum at the BFI conferenceBest Beginnings hosted a popular stand at UNICEF’s Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) annual conference in November. The event, which attracts professionals and others involved in the care of mothers and babies, aims to provide the very latest information and advice about breastfeeding.

Having a seat on the BFI steering committee, I was on hand to offer help to delegates at the two-day conference. I was based on the Best Beginnings stand which received considerable interest from health professionals keen to find out more about the charity.

Many told of how useful the charity’s From Bump to Breastfeeding DVD had proved in their every day practice and were eager to purchase special posters promoting breastfeeding to patients. These were on display as part of the Get Britain Breastfeeding art exhibition at the stand.

Best Beginnings is keen for as many hospitals as possible in the UK to Go Baby Friendly. For more information on UNICEF’s Baby Friendly Initiative go to www.babyfriendly.org.uk.
