In my last post I mentioned the event in Parliament for the Breastfeeding Manifesto Coalition. We got some really positive feedback. If you weren’t there you can see the presentations given by myself and Dr Judith Meek and Charlie Webster and MP Graham Allen.

Here’s a short film about the day:

Since I last wrote, Charlie has been interviewed by talkSPORT in Richmond Park. You can see the interview below. Be warned, there’s a lot about football – Charlie’s a massive Sheffield United fan – but she does mention our London to Paris bike ride at the end. And she’s kitted out in a Best Beginnings T-shirt!

I’d like to officially welcome Tom Walker to his role as Head of Fundraising. Tom joined Best Beginnings at the beginning of June and has hit the ground running, organising the 10K run and London to Paris bike ride. He’s also been working on a number of key applications. He has an enviable track record in trusts and foundations and I look forward to him bringing this experience to Best Beginnings.

The Asics British 10K London Run took place this last weekend, raising over £10,000 for Best Beginnings. I want to thank the Royal Horseguards hotel who provided a stunning venue pro bono. It made such a difference to our 20 runners, who were treated to a lovely breakfast before the run, and shower rooms and lunch afterwards.

If you want to take part in the Run next year just let Tom know.

We’ve also dealt with the frustrations mass media brings, after a piece by Zoe Williams in the Guardian. It seems right to reply doesn’t always happen. You can read our unprinted but factually accurate reply over on our news pages.

Meanwhile, my work continues unabated progressing the Small Wonders project, developing our other projects and meeting key academics.
