Click here to read a detailed account of Small Wonders progress and activity.Best Beginnings is working closely with the Scottish Government, the Welsh Government and the Public Health Agency Northern Ireland to plan for the roll-out of Small Wonder in all four nations. We have received some fantastic feedback on the DVD from staff members so far (which you can check out below) and we are really impressed with the action plans and ideas that Champions have come up with in order to raise awareness of the project and to ensure all families with a baby on their neonatal unit receive a DVD. We would like to say a huge thank you to them all. Keep up the good work! “I would like to thank you for providing such a valuable tool to assist in supporting the parents of premature and sick infants. I have just watched the DVD in its entirety prior to its roll out next month. It not only informed my practice as a neonatal nurse, but I feel strongly that it will inform parents of their babies journey. I applaud the effort that went into making this DVD in such detail and explaining medical terminology in such an understanding manner. I wholeheartedly believe this will be an invaluable tool for me and my colleagues to use in supporting parents of premature and sick babies. Thank you” Senior Nurse, Southend University Hospital NHS Trust. “I was given one of these DVD's to look at recently and was very impressed with it, especially as it deals with a variety of outcomes from a preterm birth. I think it would be a really useful piece of information for parents and some of it would possibly make having a preterm baby less scary if the parents could see it before delivery if delivery of a preterm infant is certain. Thank you.” Senior Staff Nurse, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. “We have informed the HOM re the project of ‘small wonders’ and also the neonatal leads. We have put boards in the staff rooms in the neonatal areas and midwifery units and distributed the DVD s and appreciative forms in order to raise awareness. We have had information in our news letter and trust bulleting on the project and we are ready to distribute DVDs to women and families commencing 19th June”. Consultant Midwife-Infant feeding, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
