It would be surprising if you didn't feel stressed sometimes when you're pregnant. After all, it's a massive life-changing event and you are being asked to make lots of big decisions.

Severe stress can harm the way your baby grows, so it's important to relax as much as you can and not let it all get on top of you. Some tips for managing stress:

  1. Be realistic about how much you can do, and tell your boss, your teachers and anyone else who's stressing you.
  2. Relax whenever you can. Take a warm bath, watch your favourite programmes, go to bed early.
  3. Keeping fit and active gives you stress-busting endorphins (happy chemicals) in your brain and helps you switch off.
  4. If you have control over some of the things that stress you out, concentrate on fixing those things first.
  5. Focus on your baby. No matter how much other stuff is going on, nothing matters as much as them.
  6. Talk to someone you trust about how you feel.
