Embedding Baby Buddy in Leeds

We are very excited to be working with Leeds Maternity Care to embed Baby Buddy, our multi-award winning free app for parents and parents-to-be, in to their care pathway to support the families they work with.

We work with a range of health professionals, including midwives and health visitors with the aim to support their capacity, and engagement with one another and with the parents they support in order to improve communication, confidence and self-efficacy which ultimately serves to improve maternity experience and health outcomes.

Embedding Workshops

The Embedding Programme involves a series of collaborative workshops, starting with Content and Co-Creation.

On the 21st June and 5th of July we had two different groups of health professionals participating in Content and Co-Creation workshops at St. James' University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary.

Exploring Baby Buddy Features

During these workshops we explored the Baby Buddy app (videos among other functionalities of the app), and then collaboratively create a plan of when and how these resources can support and reinforce the work of health professionals with the families they work with. The workshop is tailored to each location which means that at this point we might focus on specific areas of concerns, such as Breastfeeding and Maternal Mental Health. As part of this project in Leeds, we have spent time specifically looking at Smoking Cessation.

In the next step, we will be putting the plan into practice, working on how each of the participants can cascade the information to their teams and colleagues, thus maximising the positive impact in local families.

Our work in Leeds

Baby Buddy in LeedsIt is wonderful to be working in Leeds again, who were one of the three North of England sites part of the University of Central Lancashire's Breastfeeding Impact Study and the commissioners of Understanding Your Baby, a fantastic series of films which support bonding and attunement.

As you can see from the map, Baby Buddy is currently reaching an estimated 1 in 5 births in Leeds which is fantastic news. Baby Buddy works to empower and inform families to make informed choices and it is endorsed by the Department of Health and many Royal Colleges.

It's amazing to have the opportunity to further build on our work with the Leeds Maternity Care team and we look forward to keeping you updated!
