Best Beginnings resources launch in South Tees!

Mums and dads-to-be across the South Tees area are set to benefit from Best Beginnings' resources to help them through pregnancy and into parenthood.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and Middlesbrough Council joined forces with the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to launch our resources at Redcar Coast and Hemlington Children Centres on Wednesday, 24 February.

The free resources aim to help mums and dads to be with all the information they need to give their new bundle of joy the best start in life. They have been developed with input from parents and health and early years’ professionals, including the Department for Health and the Royal College of Midwives.

Kay Branch, Midwife Consultant from the South Tees Foundation Trust, said: “These resources are fantastic for all parents; they provide accurate advice in an accessible way.

“With a combination of informative videos, magazine and the mobile phone app we will be able to help and offer even more support to parents during this exciting time of their lives.”

One mum who has tried the Baby Buddy app, Lisa Crier from Brotton, said:

“I think the app is great as it lets you ask questions that you might think are silly, at any time, day or night.

“The information is easy to understand, and you get daily updates on how your bump and then baby are developing, as well as tips on looking after yourself as a new mum.

"You can personalise your avatar, put reminders in the calendar about appointments, watch videos, and search for local information. It’s definitely a great support.”

Embedding our resources in local care pathways has already proved to be a success in other areas in the country, and we are delighted that parents in South Tees can also now benefit. We are delighted that Healthcare professionals in Hounslow are now Baby Buddy Professional Champions! Best Beginnings launched Baby Buddy today in cooperation with Hounslow Council and Hounslow Clinical Commissioning Group.
Baby Buddy Champions Launch in West Sussex

Baby Buddy is now part of "business-as-usual" for health professionals and parents in West Sussex. It launched on 29 January 2018 at Langley Green Children and Family Centre, Crawley, after a six week training and embedding process with maternity staff. The Embedding process is a tailored a programme to use Baby Buddy to address local concerns. Baby Buddy will now be enhancing the maternity experience and improve outcomes in West Sussex.

Best Beginnings at the British 10K

On Sunday 9th July 2017, 10 runners represented Best Beginnings at the Virgin Sport Westminster British 10k and raised funds for Best Beginnings’ work to support parents in giving their children the best start in life. The British 10k is considered a ‘mini London Marathon’. It attracts thousands of runners to charge around the closed-off streets of Westminster.
