Best Beginnings 10k run 2012On the 8th July and what was a rather cold, rainy Sunday, 22 valiant Best Beginners runners took part in the British 10K run to raise much needed funds for Best Beginnings.

The runners braved the early start, elements and crowds and all came home safely! Together ‘Team Best Beginnings’ have (so far) raised over £8,500, which is a fantastic achievement. And it’s not too late to help them raise more - you can still sponsor the runners on their fundraising pages here: www.bestbeginnings.org.uk/Pages/Fundraisers/

Best Beginnings’ Chair Prof. Alan Maryon-Davis, who was there on the day to lend a hand and provide words of encouragement for the runners, said: “It was great to see so many out running on such a chilly day in support of Best Beginnings. I have been really impressed by everyone’s dedication and commitment to the cause – a really fantastic effort and heartfelt thanks from all the Best Beginnings team.”

Many of those taking part had personal experiences of children not having the best start in life so it was an emotional journey. For Vivian Goldring, it was her fourth time running the 10K for Best Beginnings and was doing it this year in memory of her nephew Ben Goldring who tragically recently passed away. Vivian said: “I wanted so much to run for Ben in the hope that other children have a better start in life;  it was incredibly moving for me and I would like to thank all my sponsors who have been such a huge support and comfort.”

Below is a video showing what one of our runners, Jack, and all his other Best Beginnings team mates got up to on the day!
