  • The Parent Panel

The Parent Panel

Getting the information right is important. It's also important that the tone is friendly and inclusive and that the information is easy to understand so that families find it useful and interesting. This is where the Parent Panel comes in.

The Parent Panel are our volunteers that help us to shape the 'voice' of our resources, particularly Baby Buddy app. The information we co-create for parents and soon-to-be parents is evaluated by the Parent Panel before they are made public. This feedback is crucial and we adjust the resources accordingly.

The Parent Panel is made up of parents from across the UK who want to play a role in creating content that supports families across the country. When we produce new videos or answer new questions, we upload these to the Parent Panel Portal on this website and members can login to view and give their feedback.

If you would like to join the Parent Panel you can start by registering here.

If you would like to know more about the Parent Panel before joining, you can email [email protected] or call us on 020 7443 7895.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to the Best Beginnings Family.

What do I get out of being a Parent Panel member?

Become the first to test-drive our text messages and video clips. Before they go live in our Baby Buddy app, you will have first chance to let us know if our answers to questions are friendly, engaging and easy to understand.

Also preview our video clips of parents sharing their stories and professionals giving tips and let us know if you think they are helpful in understanding a particular issue.

All parents of young children (under 5) from all backgrounds and of all ages are welcome. No qualifications are necessary though you do need to understand some English.

You can feedback from the comfort of your own home by reading/watching and share your comments and feedback.

Time spent: approximately half an hour a month

You will become a baby expert yourself in no time and will be recognised for your effort:

Level 1 Certificate - awarded when you have reviewed answers* to 75 questions (between 3-6 months)

Level 2 Certificate - awarded when you have reviewed 150 answers*

Level 3 Certificate - awarded when you have reviewed 300 answers*

*A video clip (2-3 minutes) review counts as one answer.

When you have reached level 3, you stand a chance of becoming our Parent Panelist of the Year.

Your participation should be enjoyable, interesting as well as learning experience for you. Members find it very enriching to know that they have a voice in how parents are receiving advice.

Best Beginnings' co-creation process

During pregnancy and the early years, families are given a lot of information. They can also search online and hear thousands of opinions and conflicting information in a matter of seconds.

At Best Beginnings we believe in the power of collaboration. All of our content is co-created with parents and healthcare professionals and vetted by external Healthcare bodies and parents. The Parent Panel is therefore a critical phase in our co-creation process.

The Editorial Board

Our Editorial Board, is made up of representatives from the Department of Health, The Royal College of Midwifery, The Institute of Health Visiting and many other organisations. The role of the Editorial Board is to ensure that the content is best practice, reliable and evidence-based. Once content has been signed off by the Editorial Board, it is reviewed by the Parent Panel to ensure it is easy to understand, useful and engaging.
