Thanks to funding from the Department of Health there have been three key developments with the Small Wonders project At the heart of the project is the Small Wonders DVD which we've created to help parents of sick and premature babies to be at the heart of their baby’s care. The key developments are that:

  • we are organising four Small Wonders Champions Days, with the first happening in London on June 4th. Read on to find out more.
  • we have recruited a superb new Small Wonders National Facilitator
  • we are printing a full year’s supply of Small Wonders DVDs for England

Introducing Tina Pollard...

We were delighted to welcome Tina Pollard to the Best Beginnings team as the Small Wonders National Facilitator. Tina is a past Small Wonders Champion with 25 years experience as a Neonatal Nurse and has served two terms as the Chair of the Neonatal Nurses Association. Small Wonders DVD re-print and endorsing organisations
Thanks to funding from the Department of Health we are printing a full year's supply of Small Wonders DVDs. 100,000 copies are being made for all the parents of premature and sick babies, neonatal staff and other relevant multi-disciplinary staff in England.  Before re-printing the DVD we took the opportunity to re-connect with the original 22 endorsing organisations including a number of royal colleges, to confirm their continued support of the DVD. We also approached a few other key organisations to ask if they would also like to endorse Small Wonders. What follows below is a screen-grab of the inside left cover of the DVD cover with the full list of 32 endorsers. New endorsing organisations include: Start4Life, Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy, Family Link, NSPCC, Action for Children and the Family and Childcare Trust.

Below, you'll see the inside right cover of the Small Wonders DVD which lists the 12 films on it, the funders and also a lovely quote of support from Dr. Jacqueline Cornish, the National Clinical Director for Children & Young People NHS England.

The DVD is now being used in 147 England neonatal units, and in 6 Northern Ireland neonatal units and is about to roll-out across Scotland. For information about ordering free copies for your hospital please email: [email protected]
