Thank you to Long Eaton Breastfeeding Support Group! In support of World Breastfeeding Week, on Saturday 1st August Long Eaton Breastfeeding Support Group held their first Summer Fete at St Laurence’s Church Hall, increasing awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding and raising a wonderful £130 for Best Beginnings. The fete received a steady number of visitors through its gates who browsed the summery stalls including local crafts by Crafty Little Prints; the colourful baby and toddler clothing range by local company The Little Igloo alongside face painting and sling advice by Love to Carry and massage by MamaBabyBliss. Cakes were enjoyed and the weather held, the giant bear was named ‘ James’ and went to a fabulous home where it can be enjoyed as a wrestling buddy. A spokesperson for the breastfeeding group said “We are delighted with the amount raised for Best Beginnings and we thank everyone who came along and supported our fete and to our friends and families who donated goodies to sell or donated their time to help with the event; its success means that as a group of volunteers we shall return with more fundraising events in the future and based on the feedback on our cakes – a coffee morning is a good way to go!”Long Eaton Breastfeeding Support Group, run by local mums who have been trained by health professionals dedicated to supporting breastfeeding in the region, meets weekly on Mondays at the children’s centre on Lime Grove. The sessions are from 10.00 - 11.30 and are a welcoming place for new mums to meet and discuss breastfeeding anxieties, swap stories and gain confidence in their decisions to breastfeed their children.
