A ten year-old poster, spotted at UCLH, seems to have caused some distress. We do appreciate that communications have evolved in the last ten years,  to recognise the experience of mothers who formula feed for many reasons. The poster was designed to highlight the benefits of breastfeeding to those mothers who choose not to breastfeed even when they can. We will track down the banner which is out of date, and have it removed.

As an organisation we fully appreciate the challenges and barriers that mothers may face when it comes to breastfeeding and,  as such, we provide resources to support mothers who are formula feeding too: https://web.bestbeginnings.org.uk/web/videos/formula-feeding

We have also successfully supported women who were on the verge of giving up because of challenges, to enable them to continue to breastfeed. Please get in touch if you would like more information: info@bestbeginnings.org.uk

As an organisation specifically tackling inequalities, where children from particular backgrounds are at a significantly greater risk of poorer outcomes, we have a responsibility to continue to promote breastfeeding for all its well researched benefits. https://www.bestbeginnings.org.uk/Blog/what-are-the-benefits-of-breastfeeding

We are equally keen to support all parents, regardless of whether they breastfeed or not.
