There’s lots going on for your baby this month. He’s sitting more steadily and he may be starting to move around by creeping, crawling, rolling or bottom shuffling. He may be getting used to feeding himself or having regular meals.

Can you tell your baby understands more and more of what you say? He’s beginning to recognise names for things or people you talk about every day. He may also be starting to predict what will happen next – so he knows that some sounds or actions mean something else is about to happen, like being strapped in the highchair means it’s a mealtime.

Whenever you notice that your baby’s understood something, give him lots of praise and encouragement by describing what’s happening (“That’s right, it’s time for tea”; “Clever baby, that’s your ball”).
